Mobile Ceramic Coatings Surrey & Hampshire

Tired of washing your car only for it to get dirty again within a few days? Ceramic coating could be your cure! Creating a chemical resistant super hydrophobic layer over the top of your paintwork, ceramic coatings make future cleaning/drying a breeze, not to mention it will last miles longer in between cleans.

What are ceramic coatings?

The phrase ceramic coating gets thrown around more than a Gilbert ball at the six nations, yet I am willing to bet that only a few know the ins and outs of how they actually protect your paintwork.

The main composite in many ceramic coatings (alongside many solvents and other smaller elements) is silicon dioxide, or SiO2. This forms the base ‘hardness’ of the coating which is why you get that super slick feel to a coated car.

Although it is applied in liquid form, once cured the nano-ceramic coat hardens to form a layer of protection over your paintwork. This is a layer that is much harder than even the best car waxes, which is one of the reasons it lasts much longer.

How do work

How do ceramic coatings work?

Once correctly applied, a ceramic coating acts as an extra 'skin' on top of your paintwork. Having this extra barrier means that any contaminants, such as bird mess and tree sap, have a much harder time damaging your paintwork as they first have to get through the layer of ceramic.

Now the main reason everyone wants to go ceramic is that epic water beading affect, but is this just an Instagram gimmick? Or is there some method behind this hydrophobic madness?

Cars will attract dirt flicked up from the road, however in the dry this is fairly rare as dry dirt isn't relativity sticky. In the wet however dirty road water is thrown around everywhere, having some extreme water beading in this case is therefore a huge benefit, the amount of dirty water actually sticking to the paintwork is significantly reduced.

Plus, that water beading affect is just so god damn satisfying.

How Much

Matching the very high quality finish of our results, ceramic coatings aren't your typical 'quick job'. That being said at a starting price of £350.00, our 2 year ceramic coating application comes at a very reasonable price.

We regularly provide free no obligation quotes so that you can get an exact idea of the costs of protecting your vehicle.

How Long

How long does a ceramic coating last?

Ceramic coating durability is a highly competitive topic of conversation as companies boast longer and longer life's for their top coatings. In my opinion anything under a year either isn't a proper ceramic or has been applied/looked after incorrectly.

We offer two options of ceramic coating at Courts Detailing with different respective durabilities; the Infinity Wax 2 year ceramic coating and Regin 7 year 10H ceramic coating.

Now, how long the total coating lasts should also be compared to how long it will maintain its extreme water beading. The 7 year Regin ceramic will hold it's beading way beyond what the 2 year can physically do, so even if you plan to re polish the car in 2-3 years it's nice to have piece of mind that the coating will maintain tight beads all the way until the end. That being said, if you're selling your car and want it looking the best it can, the shorter length more cost effective 2 year option could be best for you, because to the naked eye, there is no gloss difference between the two offerings.
